Classical Cellist | Chamber Musician | Teacher
Igert Zeqiri is one of Albania’s most distinguished cellists, currently serving as the Principal Cellist of the Symphony Orchestra of Radio Television of Albania (RTSH). Renowned for his expressive depth and technical mastery, Zeqiri stands out as a leading figure in the Albanian classical music scene.
Born in Elbasan, he began his cello studies at the age of six and gave his first solo performance at just nine years old. His early promise led him to the University of Arts in Tirana, where he studied under some of the country’s most respected pedagogues, including Aristidh Prosi and Astrit Selita. There, he earned multiple national awards and became the principal cellist of the university orchestra.
As a performer, Zeqiri has collaborated with Albania’s foremost orchestras, including the National Opera and Ballet, the Kosovo Philharmonic, and the Tirana Philharmonic. He is also a founding member of Trio Rêve, a chamber ensemble dedicated to showcasing both Albanian and European repertoire.
Beyond his orchestral work, Zeqiri is a passionate educator, sharing his expertise as a cello professor at the University of Arts and mentoring the next generation of musicians at the “Onufri” Art School in his hometown.
